A Group for Men Healing from Sexual Abuse: 2
This ongoing group is for men who have already completed the 12-week Level 1 group I offer, or its equivalent. This is both a support and a process/growth group. Members use the group both to explore how to meet relationship challenges in the present especially when rooted in past abuse. They draw on their relationships in the group to accept their abuse histories emotionally while growing beyond them. While safety is still crucial, this group also focuses on healthy risk-taking, which involves increased disclosure, honesty, and exploration of here-and-now experience within the group.
Concurrent individual therapy (or its ready availability) is required, depending upon how complete the experience of individual therapy has been. This group is less structured than Level 1 and members set their own agendas, and both support and challenge one another more in relation to individual goals.
